"Now lets all stay together and remember where we parked the bus."
With everything there is to see and do in Las Vegas, you don’t need us to keep you busy! But a National Convention
will not be complete with a tour, so this is what we are working on.
These tours have yet to be finalized and the final arrangements made. We do know that the Nellis AFB and Atomic Test Site tours will be limited in attendance
and will require full security vetting in advance. These are active high-security government and military facilities and require security clearance to enter.
As such, attendance may be limited to American citizens only. Please check for updates and details.
Atomic Testing Museum & Test Site Tour
The National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada, documents the history of nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site in the desert north of Las Vegas.
Nowhere else can you see a large nuclear reactor that was used in the development of the nuclear rocket and the first air-to-air missile, Genie. Personal atomic weapons that were developed to use in place of conventional weapons such as the Backpack Nuke and the Davy Crockett Weapon System (recoilless gun) are placed throughout the 8,000 square feet of museum exhibits.
Once finalized, the tour will consist of a trip to the NAT Museum and then north to the actual Atomic Test site.
Nellis Airforce Base Petting Zoo Museum
Located in North Las Vegas, Nellis AF Base is home to more squadrons than any other USAF base, including the Thunderbirds and hosts many exercises such as Red Flag, Nevada Test & Training Range, and the Air & Space Operations Center. Located on Nellis is the ‘petting zoo’ consisting of dozens of ‘opposing force’ aircraft and military vehicles.
Once finalized the tour will consist of a visit to the petting zoo, Rescue Helicopter flight line, Thunderbirds museum and possibly a Thunderbirds flight line tour.
Shelby Heritage Center Tour
Established in 2013, Shelby Heritage Center is home to over 30 Shelby vehicles and tells the story of Carroll Shelby along with the company he started in 1962. The Heritage Center is constantly revising its vehicle inventory and placement to keep things fresh. The 15,000 square foot Heritage Center sits adjacent to the 150,000square-foot production facility.
The Heritage Center is not just about seeing vintage Shelby vehicles. Adjacent to the Heritage Center is the Carroll Shelby Store which offers apparel, collectibles, and other gifts to actual Shelby Performance Parts for the late model Mustangs. Everything Shelby can be found here.
Located just 20 minutes from the Rio Resort, this tour will be a must-see for any automotive enthusiast.
